Ingredients
- 500 grams rump steak
- 1 onion, peeled and roughly chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed and peeled
- 2 tblsp Indonesian soy sauce
- 2 tsp each ground coriander and cumin
- 1 tsp each turmeric, five spice powder and salt
- 1 lemon (grated rind and juice)
Method
- Trim any excess fat from the rump steak. Cut the steak into long thin strips, about 0.5cm wide. Thread the strip evenly onto 12 skewers.
- In a food processor put the onion, garlic, soy sauce, spices, lemon rind and juice and process until smooth.
- Pour the marinade over the beef and turn to coat. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for one hour or overnight.
- Cook the skewers over a moderate heat for about 8-10 minutes turning once. Serve with the Quick Peanut Satay.
Quick Peanut Satay
- In a bowl blend together 1/2 cup each smooth peanut butter and coconut cream with, 2 tblsp each Indonesian Soy Sauce, lemon juice and brown sugar.
