Ingredients
- 2 cups self-raising flour
- 50 grams butter
Filling
- 2 oranges (grated rind)
- 1 egg yolk
- extra grated cheese
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup milk
- 6 rashers bacon, cooked until crisp and diced
- ½ cup cheese
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
Method
- Sift the flour and salt into a large bowl.
- Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs. Make a well in the centre.
- Pour in the milk and mix quickly with a knife until the mixture forms a soft dough. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured board and knead lightly. Roll out to a 25cm x 10cm rectangle.
- Combine all the ingredients for the filling. Spread the filling down the centre and roll up lengthwise.
- Cut into 8 even-sized rounds and place on a baking tray in the pattern of a flower or wheel. Sprinkle over a little extra cheese.
- Bake at 230°C for 10 minutes until cooked. Serve warm and fresh.
