This recipe, given to me by an aunt, makes biscuits that is like biting into a vanilla-scented, crunchy, sweet air that is simply delicious when crowned with quality chocolate feve (bean) or button before baking. From school boxes to afternoon tea plates, this simple-to-make recipe is just perfect.
Ingredients
- 200 grams butter, at room temperature
- 200 grams caster sugar
- 2 teaspoon vanilla OR coffee esssence
- 250 grams flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- about 36 chocolate butttons
Method
- Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius. Grease 1-2 baking trays or line with baking paper.
- Beat the butter, sugar and essence together until very light and fluffy in texture. Sift the flour and baking powder together and stir into the creamed mixture to make a soft biscuit dough.
- Roll generous teaspoonfuls of mixture into balls and place on the prepared trays. Do not crows the trays - allow room for spreading. Press a chocolate button on top of each biscuit.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until a gentle golden colour. Cool on the trays. Store in an airtight container.
Cooks Tips
The chocolate used in the picture here is Valhrona chocolate feves (beans), though basic chocolate buttons can be used.
