Luscious, smooth and rich, this sauce makes an ideal Christmas gift for the chocoholic. Pour over summer berry fruits or poached autumn fruits to create a simple yet elegant dessert.
Ingredients
- 125 grams dark cooking chocolate
- 175 grams unsalted butter
- ¼ cup cocoa
- 1 cup caster sugar
- 1-1½ tablespoons vanilla essence
- ½ cup orange liqueur
Method
- Warm the chocolate and butter in a medium-sized saucepan over a low heat until the chocolate has melted, stir constantly.
- Add the sifted cocoa and caster sugar and continue to stir over simmering water until the sugar has dissolved. Stir in the vanilla essence and orange liqueur and bottle into hot sterlised jars and seal. Keep refrigerated.
Cooks Tips
- You could use coffee liqueur in place of orange liqueur.
