Ingredients
- 1 kg cooking apples
- ¼ cup water
- 1¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 150 grams butter
- 1½ - 2 tblsp chopped crystallized ginger
Method
- Peel, core and slice the apples. Cook with the water and a quarter of a cup of the brown sugar for 10 minutes or until tender.
- Sift the flour into a bowl and stir in the, rolled oats, remaining brown sugar and cardamom. Rub in the butter and then stir in the crystallized ginger.
- Put the cooked apples into a 6-cup-capacity ovenproof dish, top with the crumble mixture. Cook at 180°C for 30 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
- Serve with yoghurt, custard or ice cream.
