A quick and easy meal with spicy bratwurst sausages making a change from ordinary "bangers".
Ingredients
- 50 grams butter
- 1 red onion, peeled and finely sliced
- ½ red cabbage, finely sliced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons wine vinegar
- ½ teaspoon fennel seeds
- 4-6 bratwurst sausages
Method
- Heat the butter in a frying pan or saucepan and cook the onion until softened.
- Add the cabbage, cover and cook over a low heat for 8-10 minutes until the cabbage has softened. Stir in the brown sugar, red wine and fennel seeds and cook a further 2-3 minutes.
- Cook the sausages in a hot lightly oil frying pan and serve with the red cabbage.
