Launching my latest book, Recipes from my French Kitchen, has been a great deal of fun. We kicked off the launch back in our village at Caixon, with Chef , Gerard BOR and local identities including four talented Mater Chefs, several Mayors and Parliamentarians, all the artisans who feature in the book and a whole host of wonderful locals. Back in New Zealand, we began with a wonderful Mother’s Day event at my son’s school before heading off to Wellington, where I found a pin-up poster of myself on the back of the loo doors at the Upper Hutt Cossie Club !!! After that shock we moved off to Masterton, Parparaumu, Fielding, Whanganui, Palmerston North, Hastings and Gisborne. On the Mainland, we met people at Nelson, Christchurch, where I ran into old friend Ruud Kleinpaste, Ashburton, Oamaru, Gore, Wanaka and Cromwell. Next will be Rotorua, Hamilton and Tauranga. It’s been a fabulous time seeing so many people and being able, to inspire people to travel off the beaten track when next they venture overseas, or even, hopefully, encourage folk to do as we did and go and live in a village with family for a while.

The book rocked in at number 2 on the Best Seller list and is now in the top 5 – Ya! Recipes from my French Kitchen is not just a memoir filled with colourful characters, villages and fetes, it’s also a super cook book with 50 plus recipes, all inspired from the Haute Pyrénées and all easily prepared here.
